Question 1

Can the DuroMax XP15000HX really power my entire house?

Accepted Answer

Yes — 12,000 running watts covers most 2,000–3,000 sq ft homes including central AC, well pumps, and major appliances. We ran 9,500W continuously without tripping. Just calculate your total load first and connect via a transfer switch.

Question 2

Is the DuroMax XP15000HX safe to run at night while sleeping?

Accepted Answer

Yes, thanks to CO Alert, but only if positioned at least 20 feet from windows and doors with exhaust pointed away from the house. The auto-shutdown is a backup, not a substitute for proper placement.

Question 3

How long will it run on a 20 lb propane tank?

Accepted Answer

About 2.8 hours at 50% load in our test (2h 45m actual). At 25% load you get around 4 hours. For overnight propane use, you'll want a 100 lb tank or larger.

Question 4

What's the difference between the XP15000HX and XP15000HXT?

Accepted Answer

The HXT adds natural gas capability (12,825 peak watts on NG) and costs roughly $300–500 more. Same engine, same power on gasoline and propane. Choose the HXT only if you have a natural gas line.

Question 5

Can I use it for sensitive electronics like a CPAP or gaming PC?

Accepted Answer

Cautiously. THD under 12% is high for delicate electronics. A quality surge protector/line conditioner or a small UPS between the generator and your device is strongly recommended.
